The Egyptian Football Federation on Tuesday canceled the present season of the "Egypt Cup," the oldest competition in the history of the country, due to insufficient time for remaining matches.
Local football activity has been frozen since the outbreak of the 25 January uprising that ended on 11 February with the ouster of former President Hosni Mubarak.
“There is not enough time,” said federation media spokesman Azmi Megahed. “We have several matches to play in the league and internationally.”
He also said that the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces has agreed hold league activities from 15 April until 11 July.
