Egyptian FM Sameh Shoukry holds talks with Serbian FM in Cairo

Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry held talks on Sunday with his Serbian counterpart Nikola Selaković on bilateral relations, ways to enhance them, issues in the Middle East and the Balkans, and challenges facing the two countries.

Shoukry said during a joint press conference that during the talks, cooperation mechanisms between the two sides were reviewed and it was agreed to explore new areas of cooperation, especially economically.

Relations between Egypt and Serbia are “close and extended,” he said, and both countries share views on regional and international issues.

Coordination will continue between the two countries, he added.

And Shoukry noted that the near future will see meetings between senior officials to determine when to convene a joint committee and prepare for mutual visits between officials of both countries, including at summits.

The Serbian Foreign Minister’s visit to Cairo includes a visit to Al-Azhar and a meeting with Coptic Pope Tawadros II, he added, in addition to a visit to the New Administrative Capital and the Museum of Egyptian Civilization.
