Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Expatriates Affairs Badr Abdelatty, on Tuesday 8-10-2024, emphasized need to defuse tension caused by the Israeli aggression on Lebanon and exercising restraint in this critical stage to avoid an all-out regional war posing threat to the regional and international peace and security.
Abdelatty made the remarks during phone call with Lebanon’s caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati to discuss developments of the situation in Lebanon.
The phone call falls within the framework of calls made by the foreign minister with regional and international parties concerned, including the foreign ministers of the US, the UK, France and other countries.
Abdelatty reviewed communication efforts exerted by Egypt to reach a ceasefire deal and de-escalate the situation in Lebanon, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Tamim Khallaf said on Tuesday.
The top Egyptian diplomat affirmed the importance of supporting Lebanese national establishments, namely the Lebanese army, alongside implementing the UN Security Council resolution no. 1701.
Abdelatty said that Egypt will maintain providing all forms of political and humanitarian assistance to Lebanon, in light of the current critical circumstances.
He underscored the necessity of joining forces by all parties concerned at this critical stage to elect a president for the country shortly and end the presidential vacuum in Lebanon, the spokesman added.
