Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry on Sunday headed to Algeria to participate in a meeting of foreign ministers of Libya’s neighboring countries, held from August 30-31 at the invitation of Algeria.
A statement from the Egyptian Foreign Ministry said that Egypt’s participation in the meeting stems from Cairo’s keenness to support the Libyan people, and strengthen all endeavors to achieve a comprehensive political settlement of the precarious Libyan situation, which will lead to the unification of its various national institutions.
The statement noted that this should all be according to the agreed roadmap, including holding elections on December 24, ensuring the exit of all foreign forces, mercenaries and foreign fighters from Libya, in order to achieve the desires of the Libyan people for stability and prosperity.
On the sidelines of the visit, the Minister of Foreign Affairs will hold bilateral meetings with a some of his counterparts participating in the meeting related to strengthening bilateral cooperation frameworks and coordination regarding regional situations of common concern.
