Egyptian exports to the US fall to US$2.3 billion in 2022: CAPMAS

The Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics reported a decrease in the value of Egyptian exports to the US during 2022.

This came during the report “Economic Relations between Egypt and the US of America in 2022”, which analyzed the volume of foreign trade with the US (exports-imports) during 2021-2022.

The value of Egyptian exports to the US amounted to $2.3 billion in 2022, representing 4.5 percent of Egypt’s exports to the world, compared to $2.5 billion in 2021, a decrease of 9.1 percent.

Exports of ready-made garments ranked first, accounting for 57.9 percent of total exports to the US, reaching $1.3 billion in 2022, compared to $1.2 billion in 2021, an increase of 10.5 percent.

The value of Egyptian imports from the US amounted to $6.8 billion in 2022, representing 7.2 percent of Egypt’s imports from the world, compared to $6.4 billion in 2021, an increase of 5.9 percent.

Imports of grains, oily fruits and medicinal plants ranked first with 33.6 percent of total imports from the US, reaching $2.3 billion in 2022, compared to $1.7 billion in 2021, an increase of 33.9 percent.
