Egyptian exports fall by 29% in September 2015

Egyptian non-petroleum exports fell in September 2015 by 29 percent to US$1.7 billion, from $1.2 billion in the same month last year, according to a report by the Trade and Industry Ministry.

The report also said that total exports, until the end of September 2015, fell by 19.3 percent, from $17.2 billion last year to $13.8 this year.

Trade and Industry Minister Tarek Kabil said he is working with relevant authorities on supplying factories with 100 percent of their natural gas needs after their operations were stalled due to shortages.

He partially attributed the fall in exports to the political turmoil in certain Arab markets.

Saudi Arabia has ranked first in terms of Egyptian exports, with $1.55 billion this year, compared to $1.63 billion last year, followed by Italy with $818 million, compared to $1.3 billion last year.
