Egyptian expats call for protest against Sisi’s UK visit

MENA Solidarity Network and Egypt Solidarity Initiative called for a protest outside the Tory Party conference in Manchester on Sunday, October 4, against the anticipated visit of President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi to the United Kingdom before the end of 2015.

The statement described al-Sisi as a dictator who is not welcome in the United Kingdom.

"When 1,000 people are murdered and no one is held responsible, this is a crime against humanity, not an arms sales opportunity," said a statement from the initiatives.

"Egyptian dictator al-Sisi's forces killed over 1,000 at Raba'a on August 14, 2013. Not a single government or security official has been brought to account. Cameron has authorized €‎40m in export licenses for military equipment to Egypt in 2015," the statement added.

David Cameron invited al-Sisi to visit the United Kingdom in June 2015. Sisi is expected to accept the invitation to visit by the end of the year.
