Nearly a quarter million Egyptian youths have submitted applications to emigrate to 14 foreign countries, including some Arab neighbors, the Ministry of Manpower announced.
In a report, the ministry said Italy topped the list of countries Egyptians seek to start lives in, followed by the US, Australia, England, France, Canada and Germany. The United Arab Emirates ranks first among Arab states, with Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain and Oman also featured.
Minister of Manpower Aisha Abdel Hadi said in a press statement today her ministry has stored all the applications in its database and has classified candidates according to age, qualifications, experience, and sought-after jobs.
Abdel Hadi said the ministry is currently presenting some of the applications to Arab and other foreign employers interested in hiring Egyptian labor. The ministry will coordinate with potential employers to facilitate legal emigration, she added.
The ministry has 15 employment offices overseas that will assist in the process, Abdel Hadi said.
