Egyptian Doctor sets recommendations for COVID-19 fourth wave

An Egyptian immunologist made several recommendations for the public to follow as Egypt heads into its fourth coronavirus wave, with the delta variant in the mix.

Dr. Magdy Badran, a member of the Egyptian Society of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (ESACI) gave TV show Sehtak Bedenyah a list of simple but commonly overlooked things someone can do to protect themselves.

According to Badran, many people fail to properly ventilate their homes or offices and use the air conditioner excessively.

“One of the things that some people ignore when using air conditioning is that they reduce the temperature very much, despite the fact that 24C is the ideal degree,” Badran said.

He recommended that people open their windows and doors early in the morning so that the sun can reach any lurking microbes or viruses. People should also clean their floors often and drink a lot of water.

Furthermore, Badran said that many people forget to clean their fans constantly, which could blow dust and pollen directly into the nose or eyes.

Fans need to be cleaned inside and out on a daily basis, he said, so they do not become a means for pumping dust, pollutants, and allergens, thus affecting the chest and causing other complications that are avoidable.
