Egyptian diplomat: Egypt attaches importance to support & empower its expats in host countries

CAIRO, March 24 (MENA) – Egypt’s ambassador to Belgium, Luxembourg and the European Union and NATO Ahmed Abu Zeid said Egypt attaches great importance to support and empower its community members in host countries.

The Egyptian diplomat’s remarks were made during his participation in the Ramadan iftar banquet, hosted by the Egypt lovers association in Belgium, and which was attended by nearly 200 members of the Egyptian community in Belgium.

Ambassador Abu Zeid underlined the national and cultural role played by the Egyptian community as representatives of Egypt in their workplaces and residences.

He also expressed the Egyptian embassy’s readiness to participate in organizing cultural events, in coordination with the community members in Belgium.

The embassy is also ready to promote their developmental role by launching a number of initiatives to encourage them to invest in Egypt, Ambassador Abu Zeid said, citing initiatives in offering housing, investment, and agricultural lands, as well as Egypt’s Zero-Customs Car Import Initiative.

He also reviewed the Foreign Affairs and Emigration Ministry’s efforts in consular services, including the adoption of an integrated plan to digitize consular services, in coordination with relevant authorities.

The ministry also launched an initiative to settle expats’ military status and dispatch committees to issue national ID cards, he further noted.

Abu Zeid concluded by calling on members of the Egyptian community to interact positively with the embassy by submitting proposals and ideas to improve services and organize events that enhance Egypt’s positive image in the European community. (MENA)
