Egyptian Cabinet denies rumors of spring semester delay

The Egyptian cabinet has denied rumors circulating on websites and social media pages regarding a government decision to postpone the coming semester in all schools and universities nationwide until further notice.

The cabinet confirmed that the publication was fake and did not come from the cabinet.

After a final meeting of the Supreme Committee for the Management of the Coronavirus Crisis, details of beginning the coming semester in schools and universities nationwide will be announced, the cabinet said.

The cabinet urged Egyptians to ignore the rumors, adding all legal measures will be taken against the promoters of this fake publication.

All schools and universities in Egypt were ordered to shift back to online learning in January, after the second wave of coronavirus hit its peak in late December.

Students are expected to return on February 20, at the end of the mid-year break.
