Maritime sources said that Egypt's Supreme Armed Forces Council decided on Friday to prevent private plans from taking off from Egyptian airports without prior permission from the Ministry of Civil Aviation.
According to the source, the Ministry of Civil Aviation distributed a directive to all Egyptian airlines to prevent any Egyptian from traveling on a private flight and to consult with the ministry prior to granting the person permission to travel.
There were reports that several Egyptian businessmen close to Egypt's ousted President Hosni Mubarak had fled the country on private planes with suitcases full of money.
