EgyptAir has announced the suspension of flights to the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, for a period of 3 days, starting from Wednesday until Friday, amid heightened regional tensions following the death of Iranian senior commander Qasem Soleimani in a US drone strike last week.
A statement by Egypt’s Civil Aviation Ministry said on Tuesday that the airline was suspending flights to Baghdad to preserve the safety of passengers and planes until the security situation stabilizes in the Iraqi capital.
The Civil Aviation Ministry is following the developments in the region closely in coordination with concerned authorities to assess the security situation before resuming flights to the Iraqi capital, pending security conditions improve.
The company called on its customers to review and amend their reservations through the call center 1717 or via the nearest EgyptAir office.
