State airline EgyptAir resumed flights on Sunday to Istanbul, the company said in a statement, following a one-day halt after an overnight coup attempt in Turkey.
Flight MS737 took off at 10:37 this morning heading to Ataturk international airport, the second flight MS735 is due at 14:20 afternoon to the same destination.
On Saturday the company announced the suspension of flights to Turkey until further notice, saying: "In light of recent events in Turkey yesterday evening, and the subsequent instability at Ataturk international airport, EgyptAir has decided to cancel its flights to Istanbul, MS737 and MS735," reported Reuters.
EgyptAir has 14 flights to Istanbul per week.
