EgyptAir announced that passengers traveling to the United States and United Kingdom will soon be required to present a negative PCR test for coronavirus before boarding the plane.
The requirement begins for UK travelers on January 18, and for US travelers on January 26.
Children under eleven years of age are exempt from this decision.
Additionally, the travelers to the UK must fill out the country’s Passenger Locator Form before their departure.
The airline reminded passengers that wearing a mask is required at airports and aboard all EgyptAir flights.
For further information, EgyptAir asks travelers to visit egyptair.com or contact the hotline 1717 in Egypt.
The decisions to require negative COVID-19 tests for the US and UK come as both countries report record-high case numbers.
The UK also issued a travel ban on arrivals from South America, Portugal, and Cape Verde, due to a new variant of the virus found in Brazil. The ban goes into effect on Friday.
