EgyptAir announced on Thursday that it changed the course of its B777/300 flight #MS985 in order to save the life of a passenger who suffered a sudden health crisis on board.
The plane, carrying 309 passengers, was heading from Cairo International Airport to New York Airport.
The company added in a statement that the change of course came out of the company’s concern for the safety of its customers.
The pilot immediately decided to change the flight path and make an emergency landing at Geneva Airport, and the cabin crew provided first aid to the ill passenger on the plane.
Upon arrival at Geneva Airport, an ambulance was called and the sick passenger was dropped off to receive treatment.
All passengers were also dropped off based on instructions from Geneva Airport.
The plane took off at the same day from Geneva Airport to continue its journey to New York Airport.
