Egypt urges Egyptian expats to support economy

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has urged Egyptian citizens abroad to support Egypt's economy through directing investments to development projects.

Expatriates' investments in the local economy will provide job opportunities, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohamed Abdel Hakam said on Sunday.

He made the statement after returning from a tour of Bahrain, Oman and the United Arab Emirates, where he met with Egyptian communities.

In the meetings, Hakam briefed Egyptian expatriates on Egypt’s situation and answered their queries about various issues.

He said authorities in the three countries he visited voiced appreciation for the role played by expatriates in the development of their countries.

Hakam said that the visits were made following directives by Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohamed al-Orabi, who instructed his ministry to continue communicating with Egyptians abroad and help them resolve their problems.
