Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly announced Monday that the government intends to offer the management and operation of airports to the private sector within the coming period.
This came during Madbouly’s meeting with representatives of more than 20 of the largest international companies specialized in the fields of transport, logistics and maritime navigation.
The meeting, featuring the presence of Transport Minister Kamel al-Wazi, was held along the sidelines of the TransMEA2023 International Exhibition and Conference for Intelligent Transport, Infrastructure and Logistics for the Middle East and Africa.
Madbouly explained that the government is interested in having the private sector to manage and operate these projects after their completion.
“We are certain that the private sector is more qualified to manage and operate various projects and facilities, whether seaports or dry ports,” he explained.
He added, “We are also keen to explore partnership opportunities with the private sector in managing and operating mass transit lines.”
The international companies that attended the meeting were made up of German, Chinese, Russian, Emirati, French, American, Danish, Austrian, Spanish, Czech and Hungarian companies.
