The Ministry of Civil Aviation seeks to establish Terminal 4, a state-of-the-art environmentally friendly terminal at Cairo International Airport, in an effort to improve the level of services provided to travelers.
It also seeks to expand with regard to operational traffic, especially as the Cairo International Airport is one of the most important hub airports.
Minister of Civil Aviation Mohamed Abbas Helmy explained: “We seek to make the Cairo International Airport able to compete with the most modern international airports, so that Egypt will become Africa’s first gateway for passenger and air cargo movement and a major hub for global trade movement and benefit from its distinguished strategic location between Africa, Asia and Europe.”
Helmy confirmed that a memorandum of understanding had already been signed to establish Terminal 4 at Cairo Airport in August at the ministry’s headquarters in the New Administrative Capital between the Cairo Airport Company and an alliance that includes several international companies.
The agreement includes that American specialist PANGIAM will conduct studies on the development of Cairo International Airport, infrastructure development, and ways to transform it into a smart airport managed with the best advanced digital technology in the field.
Helmy assured that Terminal 4 will become an environmentally friendly hall, and apply all international standards and smart systems.
It will also utilize digital transformation systems in shortening the time from the passenger’s arrival until the completion of procedures.
The alliance, which is headed by PANGIAM, a leader in the fields of using modern technology, software engineering, systems integration and airport operations, includes the American company AECOM – the leading company in the field of airport design – and other international companies specialized in the field of architecture, engineering designs and financial consulting.
