Cairo University announced the laying of the foundations for the largest pediatric medical complex in the Middle East, on Monday, at Cairo International University in 6th of October City.
Cairo University President Mohamed Othman el-khosht said that the pediatric medical complex is the largest medical complex for children in the Middle East, with a total project cost of about LE 3.4 billion for construction, electromechanical, networks, roads and landscaping. He added that the new medical edifice is added to the Egyptian health map.
The complex project will include 10 operating rooms equipped with the latest medical equipment, 5 nursing units (accommodation) with a total of 140 patient beds, 7 intensive care units serving about 67 patients, 44 outpatient clinics for all pediatric specialties, in addition to an integrated radiology department, laboratories section, and emergency department, dialysis department, a physical therapy department, a central pharmacy, a clinical pharmacy, two major lecture halls and 8 classrooms. The project also provides green spaces.
Khosht stressed that the development and renewal processes that are taking place in Cairo University hospitals aim to improve health services provided to all citizens from all governorates, completely free of charge, in light of the interest in the human being and the citizen who is able to contribute to building a new Egypt that we all dream of.
He explained that the medical complex for the treatment of children is the largest project that provides health care to children in the Middle East, and is being established at Cairo International University in 6th of October city.
One of its main features will be green and smart architecture, on a total land mass area of 70,000 square meters of project buildings, with a capacity of 300 beds, at an an initial cost of LE 3.4 billion.
He pointed out that the inauguration is scheduled to take place after three years, in 2024.
Khosht also said that the medical complex for the treatment of children includes a large number of rare medical specialties, and consists of 6 buildings, which are the main hospital, a hotel for the families of patients, a training center and nursing institute, housing for doctors and nursing and two service buildings.
