An Egyptian government committee will soon begin direct negotiations with the coalition of bidding companies to implement the monorail train project in the New Administrative Capital and Sixth of October City.
Informed sources told Al-Masry Al-Youm that negotiations are scheduled to start after Eid al-Fitr holiday, and that Bombardier Transportation’s delegation will arrive in Cairo next week.
The sources said that the High Committee formed from ministries of transport and housing will meet with the coalition, which includes Bombardier Transportation, Arab Contractors, and Orascom.
Several international and local coalitions have made bids to the project, and the project consultant have concluded studying and evaluating all the bids submitted according to the sources.
Negotiations will focus on the timetables and stages of implementation of the project and priorities according to the vision of the Egyptian government, the sources added, alongside negotiations with the project’s financing bodies and the plan to invest in manufacturing the necessary components and its workshops.
On May 20, Bombardier Transportation received a letter of award from the High Committee following the Cabinet’s approval of the offer and the review for the results of the final evaluation of financing, investment, operation and maintenance of the Monorail project.
