Egyptian authorities temporarily opened the Rafah crossing with Gaza Friday morning to ease the suffering of stranded and wounded Palestinians.
Egypt has occasionally opened the vital crossing for humanitarian reasons. Hamas, which runs Gaza and is deemed a security threat by Egypt, has called upon Cairo to keep the crossing open.
An official security source said the crossing was opened to receive Palestinians wounded in Israeli military operations targeting the area.
Until late Thursday, 460 Palestinian, including eight wounded in the conflict, passed through the crossing to and from Gaza.
Humanitarian aid from al-Azhar and United Arab Emirates had also been allowed through the crossing.
