Egypt slams Israeli minister’s offensive statements

The spokesperson for the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Abu Zeid, stated that it is unfortunate and disgraceful that Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich continues to make irresponsible and inflammatory statements against Egypt.

The Hebrew newspaper “Haaretz” reported on Monday that Smotrich pointed the finger at Egypt for what happened on October 7.

The Israeli minister claimed that Hamas’s ammunition supplies largely pass through Egypt, adding that Cairo bears great responsibility for what happened on October 7.

Azu Zaid said that these statements only betray Israel’s thirst for destruction and to sabotage any attempts to contain the crisis in the Gaza Strip.

He slammed these statements as completely unacceptable, stressing that Egypt has complete control over its territory, and does not allow any party to involve Egypt’s name in any failed attempt to justify its shortcomings.

In December, the minister previously accused Egypt of allowing huge amounts of ammunition to enter Gaza.

The Israeli minister also demanded Egypt to allow the residents of Gaza to pass through the Egyptian border so that they could immigrate to other countries.
