Egypt sends medical aid to Sudanese people

The military spokesperson for the Egyptian Armed Forces, Gharib Abdel-Hafez, announced on his official Facebook page that Egypt continues to send medical aid to the Sudanese.

Two military transport planes took off from East Cairo Air Base to Port Sudan Airport, he said, loaded with tons of medical shipments provided as a gift from the Health and Population Ministry to help alleviate the burden.

Abdel-Hafez explained that this medical aid comes to implement orders by President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, and within  Egypt’s overall framework of support and solidarity with Sudan through various crises.

Members of the Egyptian diplomatic mission traveled as scheduled to resume their duties at the Egyptian Consulate in Port Sudan.

The step comes affirms the strong historical ties that unite the Egyptian and Sudanese peoples, and is based on Egypt’s pioneering role towards the countries of the African continent in various circumstances and to provide them with total support.

Over 10,000 evacuees return safely

The Egyptian Transport Ministry announced late April that the number of evacuees from Sudan through the land border crossings between the two countries during the period April 21st to 25th has reached 10,194 Egyptians amongst other nationalities.

The ministry officially said in a statement that the total number of people returning from Sudan through Qastal land port reached 1,297.

On the other hand those returning through the Arqeen land port reached 8,897.

The statement noted that the two ports are receiving  large numbers from various countries.
