Egypt’s Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Sherif Fathy met with Yingwu Liu, the Executive Vice President of Dalian Wanda Hotels & Resorts, a luxury Chinese hotel management company, during the professional meetings held during his current official visit to the Chinese capital, Beijing.
The meeting was attended by Egypt’s Ambassador to China Assem Hanafi, CEO of the Egyptian Tourism Promotion authority, Amr al-Kady, and Advisor to the Minister for International Relations and General Supervisor of the General Administration of International Relations and Agreements at the Ministry ambassador Khaled Tharwat.
Fathy reviewed the increase in tourist traffic from the Chinese market to the Egyptian tourist destination of up to 60 percent compared to last year.
He pointed to the positive expectations of an increase in the number of tourist traffic from China to Egypt by the end of this year, and the increase in the number of flights between the two countries, whether directly or indirectly through other airlines.
During the meeting, the Executive Vice President reviewed the volume of the group’s business in China and various countries, the history of its establishment, and the number of its clients during the year that it receives in its various hotels and resorts.
He also indicated the group’s readiness to cooperate with the ministry in promoting tourism into Egypt.
The minister also reviewed the investment opportunities and places available for investment in Egypt, especially in tourist areas including the North Coast, the Red Sea, Sinai and other tourist cities and areas in Egypt.
He invited Yingwu Liu to visit Egypt to learn about these investment opportunities on the ground, and hold professional meetings with partners in Egypt from tourism and hotel company officials to introduce them to Chinese culture and the requirements of Chinese tourists, while also discussing establishing professional partnerships to drive more incoming tourism from China to Egypt.
