The President of the Egyptian Export Council of Medical Industries (ECMI), Majed George, held talks with Senegalese President Macky Sall during his visit to Cairo on Saturday to discuss joint cooperation and exporting medicines, supplies and cosmetics to Senegal – alongside the potential inauguration of an Egyptian pharmaceutical factory in Senegal.
George said that this comes to obtain a certificate from the Economic Community of West African States, which allows Egyptian medicines to enter 15 African countries without customs.
And the meeting discussed the opening of the Senegalese market to Egyptian exports in the pharmaceutical sector, he said.
He added that ECMI plans to expand export markets in the African continent, to implement the state’s plan to advance exports and achieve the US$100 billion target that the Egyptian state seeks.
George added that through this meeting the ECMI seeks to expand Egypt’s presence within pharmaceutical products, medical supplies and cosmetics in west African countries and to find ways to benefit from the promising political relations launched by the Egyptian state to deepen economic and trade cooperation within Africa.
