Egypt saw highest rate of incoming tourism in 2024: Report

A report by the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities stated that incoming tourism to Egypt saw growth rates rise to 15.78 million tourists during 2024.

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly assured that the tourism sector receives great attention from the state, noting that efforts are in place to achieve the government’s target goal of 30 million tourists annually.

Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Sherif Fathy said that the Egypt boasts security, safety, and stability, and is not impacted by the geopolitical events in the region.

Fathy listed the countries that topped the incoming tourism movement to Egypt as Germany, Russia and Saudi Arabia during 2024, and also during the first half of the current fiscal year 2024-2025.

He referred to another indicator related to the general average of hotel occupancy during the month of December 2024, which reached about 69 percent – an increase estimated at about 25 percent compared to December 2023.

The hotel occupancy rate in the cities of Sharm el-Sheikh, Greater Cairo, South Sinai and Hurghada exceeded 75 percent, he said.

The minister stressed that the state is eager to encourage hotel investment, as there are many promising opportunities in this field in Egypt.

He explained that the Egyptian state provides many incentives and financing initiatives to support this sector, which contributes to attracting more investments and stimulating the tourism sector in general.
