Egypt, Saudi Arabia issue statement on situation in Lebanon and Gaza

Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Aati discussed with his Saudi counterpart Faisal bin Farhan the situation in Lebanon and the Israeli escalation in the region.

Egyptian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Tamim Khilaf stated that the two ministers condemned the Israeli aggression on Lebanon, which resulted in hundreds of victims, and stressed the full Egyptian and Saudi solidarity with Lebanon in the current crisis.

They stressed the importance of providing all forms of humanitarian support to the Lebanese people, and the need to enable Beirut with all its institutions to carry out its duties and extend its sovereignty over all Lebanese territories.

The two ministers expressed their categorical rejection of any arrangements or measures that affect the safety and sovereignty of Lebanon over all its territories, and warned against the continuation of the escalation and its danger to the peoples of the region, and stressed the importance of implementing Security Council Resolution No. 1701 with all its elements and by all parties without selectivity.

The two ministers also called on the international community, especially the Security Council, to assume its responsibilities and immediately and permanently cease fire in both Lebanon and the Gaza Strip.

They stressed the continuation of coordination between Egypt and the Kingdom to deal with the dangers facing the Arab region due to the Israeli aggression against the Palestinian and Lebanese peoples.
