Egypt's defense attache in London held on Thursday a celebration to mark the 41st anniversary of the 1973 war with Israel.
Brig. Gen. Mohamed Sobhy gave an address welcoming his guests, who included Sir Simon Mayall, the senior Middle East adviser for the UK’s Ministry of Defense.
“Egypt’s Armed Forces had gone into a number of wars and conflicts over decades. But after the 1973 victory, Egypt started a new phase, opening horizons of peace in the Middle East and taking back its occupied lands.”
Sobhy praised military cooperation between his country and the UK, stressing on Egypt’s vitality for the region and its participation in international peacekeeping missions.
The event was attended by Egypt’s ambassador Nasser Kamel, consul general Hesham Khalil and members of the Egyptian community.
