Egypt's new interim president, Adly Mansour, said it is the Egyptian people who have appointed him in his position as the country's leader.
After swearing the oath into office, Masnour said: "I received the assignment order from those who possess it, the great people of Egypt, who are the leader and the source of all powers after they corrected the path of their great revolution on 30 June."
He added that the most noble upshot of demonstrations is that they expressed the ambitions of the nation rather than being a call for achieving private or personal demands.
Defence Minister General Abdel Fattah al-Sisi on Wednesday announced the roadmap for Egypt's future, suspending the constitution and appointing the Supreme Constitutional Court head as the successor of ousted President Mohamed Morsy.
Mansour added: "[The] worship of rulers which turns them into demi-gods has ended forever," claiming that presidents in Egypt will no longer enjoy immunity.
He also emphasized that presidential and parliamentary elections will be held with genuine public will for a better future and democracy aimed at progress.
Mansour commended the Egyptian people, the youth, the army, the police, the "free" Egyptian media and political powers for their role in events before and after 30 June unrest.
