Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly on Friday discussed the restructuring plan of the National Railways Authority during his meeting with the Minister of Planning, Minister of Finance, Minister of Transport, and the President of the National Railways Authority Ashraf Raslan.
Madbouly said that the government aims to improve the quality of services provided to citizens to create a qualitative shift in the railway sector – which serves large sectors of people on a daily basis through the system that contributes to the transportation of large numbers of citizens and goods, and also stimulates internal trade.
This comes within the government’s plan to develop railway facilities through periodic updating of infrastructure and coaches, focusing on safety, and providing additional resources in unconventional ways to implement developmental plans.
Raslan touched on the most important contracts currently being implemented with total investments of more than LE63 billion through manufacturing, supplying, repairing and rehabilitating trains and engines, developing level crossings, improving stations, and modernizing signalling systems.
This in addition to the most important contracts planned to be implemented until 2022, with total investments of more than LE28 billion, through rail and switch modifications for projects developing signaling systems, renewing accumulated distances, establishing new lines, and rehabilitating certain lines.
