Egypt reports over 32% increase in mobile phone imports in May

The Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) reported a 32.25 percent increase in mobile phone imports in May compared to last year.

CAPMAS said that mobile phone imports increased to US$98 million during May, compared to about $74.1 million in 2020.

Recent data from CAPMAS added that the total imports of televisions amounted to US$29.1 million in May, compared to around $15.6 million during May 2020.

Egypt’s total imports of automatic devices for information processing amounted to US$ 37.5 million during May 2021, compared to about $28.2 million last May.

The report indicated that the total value of the import of communication devices and telecommunication centrals amounted to about US$27.5 million during May, compared to about $29.3 million last year.

CAPMAS also reported an increase in the volume of import of supplies for calculators, typewriters and information processing devices to about $3.3 million during May, compared to about $2.4 million in May 2020.
