The Egyptian Foreign Ministry rejected an annual report issued by the US Department of State on the situation of human rights in Egypt.
In a strongly worded statement, the ministry said the report contained many inaccuracies and exaggerations about the situation of human rights in Egypt.
The report drew information from non-governmental organizations that lack accuracy and credibility, the Foreign Ministry said, noting that those NGOs have been acting against the Egyptian State.
The report did not give adequate space to review efforts made by the Egyptian government to improve the human rights situation, the ministry stressed.
The ministry said that the information included in the report was far from being accurate and credible, particularly when using the term "mass trials" and describing Egyptian judicial rulings as being based on political motives.
No State has the right to arrogate to itself the authority to evaluate other countries, the ministry said, noting that this report assesses the situation of human rights worldwide and is annually presented to Congress.
The report is of zero significance to the other countries, the ministry stressed.
