Egypt has affirmed its categorical rejection of any measures or statements that encourage the departure of Palestinians from their lands.
This came during a phone call that Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry received from French Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs Catherine Colonna, to discuss developments in the Gaza Strip crisis in light of the rapidly worsening humanitarian conditions.
He also called for stopping inflammatory statements repeatedly issued by some Israeli officials – which the international community, major powers and the United Nations have affirmed their complete and detailed rejection of.
Shoukry stressed that it is vital to fully implement the provisions of Security Council Resolution #2720, which includes establishing an international mechanism to accelerate and monitor the entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza Strip.
And he called on his French counterpart to work during her country’s presidency of the Security Council this month, to follow up on implementing the resolution and ensure the achievement of its objectives.
International parties must assume their responsibilities towards supporting the achievement of a comprehensive and permanent ceasefire in Gaza to end the tragic humanitarian situation, he said, as well as put a stop to Israel’s brutal violations at the West Bank.
He warned that the prolonging of the current crisis, and the continued failure to stop Israeli attacks, portend dangers that threaten the future of the international community’s handling of the Palestinian issue, as well as expanding the circle of violence which threatens to sink the region at large into further chaos.
Three African countries recently denied news shared in Hebrew media about their participation in discussions with Tel Aviv to transfer the residents of Gaza to their territories.
