Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid has reiterated Egypt’s categorical rejection of any attempts to displace Palestinians outside the Gaza Strip, whether voluntarily or forcibly.
Abu Zeid made the remarks in response to comments made by Israeli Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer on pushing Palestinians in the Gaza Strip to move out of the enclave.
All Israel’s practices on the ground confirm its intentions to impose forced displacement on Palestinians, the spokesman said in a statement on Tuesday.
Abu Zeid added that the Israeli practices in the Gaza Strip constitute a flagrant violation of the rules of international law and international humanitarian law.
They also conflict with the responsibilities of Israel, the occupying power, under Article 49 of the Geneva Convention, he added.
The spokesman urged Israel to immediately stop its ruthless bombing and targeting of Palestinian civilians, and cease imposing conditions that make the Gaza Strip an unlivable area for Palestinians.
