Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Ati visited the Egyptian Consulate General in New York on Saturday, on the sidelines of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, to inspect the Egyptian artifacts that were recently recovered from the US.
The Egyptian Consulate General in New York succeeded in retrieving these artifacts in cooperation with the Tourism and Antiquities Ministry, the US Attorney General’s Office in Manhattan, and the Egyptian Public Prosecution’s Office.
The collection included several important pieces dating back to the ancient Pharaonic era and the Ptolemaic era, including a gilded wooden mask, a red granite foot, an Egyptian alabaster vase, and others.
The Foreign Minister ordered to quickly complete all necessary procedures to ship the artifacts to Egypt in cooperation with the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities and all relevant authorities in the Egypt.
Abdel-Ati stressed the importance Egypt’s utmost desire to retrieve its artifacts and return them home.
He praised the tireless efforts made by Egyptian embassies and consulates abroad, in cooperation with the Tourism and Antiquities Ministry, the Egyptian Public Prosecution Office, and the relevant state agencies, to recover Egyptian artifacts in order to preserve the nation’s rich heritage.
