Egypt receives a large amount of Pfizer vaccines from US

Egypt received through Cairo International Airport on Sunday 2.1 million doses of the Pfizer vaccine.

This vaccine initiative is provided by the US government under the COVAX agreement imin cooperation with Gavi,Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and acting Minister of Health and Population, Khaled Abdel Ghaffar announced.

This comes within the state’s plan to diversify and expand providing coronavirus vaccines, in order to preserve the state’s continuous plans in addressing the pandemic.

The Pfizer vaccine has emergency use approval from the World Health Organization and the Egyptian Drug Authority.

It also consists of two doses which are administered 21 days apart, official spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population, Hossam Abdel Ghaffar explained.

Abdel Ghaffar added that the shipment will be distributed to vaccination centers spread throughout the governorates.

 Egypt was able in a short time to provide all types of the coronavirus vaccines approved by the World Health Organization, which included Sinovac, Sinopharm, AstraZeneca, Sputnik, Johnson & Johnson, Pfizer, and Moderna vaccines.
