Egypt reapplies pre-2007 travel procedures for Palestinians

The government announced on Wednesday that it is to reapply the pre-2007 procedures for Palestinians crossing to and from Egypt by land, sea and air.

The procedures exempt Palestinian women of all ages, as well as men under the age of 18 and over the age of 40, from having to obtain visas. It also exempts Palestinians crossing for medical treatment, and those passing through Egypt to other destinations.

The authorities also decided to open the Rafah crossing from 9:00 am until 5:00 pm, except on Fridays and national holidays, in accordance with Egypt’s efforts to end the discord among the various Palestinian factions and achieve national reconciliation.
