Egypt reaffirms its unwavering support for Lebanon

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly affirmed Egypt’s steadfast support for Lebanon – its leadership, government, and people – and its continued commitment to assisting Lebanon as it faces exceptional challenges on all levels.

Madbouly’s remarks came on Friday during a joint press conference with Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam at the Government Palace in Beirut, following extensive talks between delegations from both countries.

The Egyptian PM said that Egypt views Lebanon as a cornerstone of stability in the Levant and will spare no effort in its tireless endeavors to keep the country away from any escalation.

Madbouly added that Egypt reaffirms its firm stance against Israel’s repeated violations of Lebanese territory, including occupying parts of it.

He called for Israel’s immediate and unconditional withdrawal from all Lebanese territory, respect for the cessation of hostilities agreement, and the full and non-selective implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701.

Egypt affirms that Lebanon’s stability and national unity are integral to the security and stability of the entire Arab region, the Prime Minister said.

A fruitful meeting

Madbouly noted that the Egyptian delegation meeting in Beirut was “extensive and constructive and addressed various aspects of cooperation, in addition to discussing the political, economic, and security developments in the region.”

He continued, “I would like to commend the efforts of President General Joseph Aoun and the Lebanese government, and the directives outlined in their ministerial statement aimed at achieving stability, preserving civil peace, and restoring the effectiveness of state institutions, foremost among them the Lebanese army, enabling it to extend its authority over all Lebanese territory.”

The Lebanese Prime Minister on his end said that this visit underscores the depth of the fraternal relationship between Lebanon and Egypt, embodying a shared will to build a genuine, responsible, and productive partnership.

He noted that the discussions addressed cooperation priorities in several vital sectors, from energy to transportation, industry, digital economy, infrastructure, education and irrigation.
