The Ministry of Transport announced on Wednesday that it has moved to increase metro ticket prices.
Following the government’s decision to raise the price of gasoline last Thursday, metro ticket prices across all three lines have risen.
The new metro fares will come into effect starting August 1.
According to the government, the new increase in metro ticket prices ranges between 25 percent and 30 percent.
The new metro fares were set following the government’s decision to increase prices, which in turn came due to the increase in gasoline prices.
- Metro ticket prices for nine stations have increased from six to eight Egyptian pounds.
- Metro ticket prices for 10 to 16 stations have increased from eight to ten Egyptian pounds.
- Metro ticket prices for 17 to 23 stations have increased from 12 to 15 Egyptian pounds.
- Metro ticket prices for more than 23 stations have increased to 20 Egyptian pounds.
