President Hosni Mubarak has recently agreed with Qatari Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa to build a joint pipeline through which Qatar might export natural gas to Egypt, Trade Minister Rachid Mohamed Rachid said on Tuesday.
The proposed pipeline, the minister added, would also allow Qatar–the world's second largest producer of natural gas–to re-export liquid natural gas to Europe via Egyptian seaports.
According to an Egyptian Petroleum Ministry official, however, the ministry has not yet officially been requested to conduct a feasibility study for the project.
