Egypt provides hundreds of tons of humanitarian aid to Libya

Upon orders from Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, the General Command of the Armed Forces has directed the movement of convoys loaded with tons of humanitarian aid, subsistence materials, and relief crews to Libya following the devastation of Storm Daniel.

The General Command of the Armed Forces also directed the movement of ambulances and large numbers of engineering equipment across various roads preceded by the Armed Forces coordination with all state agencies, to be loaded onto the Mistral ship by sea.

A convoy loaded with humanitarian aid, medical supplies, search and rescue teams, in addition to engineering equipment was also sent to move overland at the Western Military Region, through Salloum Port, to help in the wake of the devastation.

Search, rescue and evacuation aircraft were also dispatched for the afflicted areas, to provide further aid and support.

The casualties of the storm that swept the cities of eastern Libya continue to increase, as search and rescue efforts mount up to recover the missing.

Storm Daniel has claimed thousands of lives and submerged entire areas, with Derna now a disaster zone.
