Egypt presents copy of Gaza recovery and reconstruction plan to Indonesia

CAIRO, March 14 (MENA) – Egypt’s Ambassador in Jakarta Yasser al-Shemy handed over a copy of Egypt’s early recovery, reconstruction, and development plan for Gaza to Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono. The plan was introduced during the extraordinary Arab summit hosted by Cairo on March 4.

During the meeting, ambassador Shemy expressed appreciation for Indonesia’s supportive stance toward Egypt’s efforts to assist the Palestinian people and commended Indonesian efforts to help them during their current crisis, which began in October 2023, according to a press release here.

The ambassador also praised the enhanced coordination between Indonesia and Egypt in addressing the crisis.

Minister Sugiono reaffirmed Indonesia’s strong support for the rights of the Palestinian people and endorsed the Cairo Declaration issued at the conclusion of the Arab summit.

He affirmed Indonesia’s backing for all Egyptian diplomatic efforts aimed at ensuring continued adherence to the Gaza ceasefire agreement and ongoing negotiations to implement its terms. He also emphasized the importance of maintaining the flow of humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people.

The meeting also reviewed the outcomes of Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto’s visit to Cairo in December 2024 and his meeting with President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi. Discussions focused on the key outcomes of maintained contacts between the Egyptian Embassy and the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Jakarta, aimed at following up on the visit’s outcomes, with top priority given to strengthening bilateral economic and investment ties and elevating cooperation to a strategic level.
