A high-ranking Egyptian source has told the “Cairo News” channel that Egypt is working to deliver the maximum amount of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip.
The security source stated that there is ongoing coordination to open the Rafah crossing for the entry of international aid, with the aim of improving the humanitarian situation in Gaza.
Egypt, Qatar, and the US announced in a joint statement that Hamas and Israel have reached an agreement to exchange prisoners and detainees and establish a permanent ceasefire between both parties.
Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Qatar, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, previously announced that “Qatar, Egypt, and the US are pleased to announce the reaching of an agreement regarding Gaza.”
Al Thani added in a press conference on Wednesday evening, “I thank our partners Egypt and the US for their efforts that contributed to advancing the negotiations.”
He continued, “With the agreement of both negotiating parties, work will continue tonight to complete the executive aspects, and the agreement will come into effect on Sunday, January 19.”
“According to the agreement, Hamas will release 33 hostages in exchange for the release of Palestinian prisoners,” he added.
