Egypt on high alert: Hospitals ready to receive wounded from Gaza

Ayman Ashour, the Egyptian Minister of Higher Education, has ordered all university hospitals to be placed on the highest alert to receive wounded and injured from the Gaza Strip. This decision comes following Egypt’s successful mediation in reaching a ceasefire agreement in Gaza, in cooperation with regional and international partners.

Ashour explained that this decision to receive injured Palestinians in university hospitals is in implementation of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s directives to cooperate and coordinate with all concerned parties to provide all forms of support to our brothers in Gaza.

The council reviewed the efforts of Egyptian universities in serving the people of Gaza since the beginning of the crisis until now, and the report presented the services provided by the universities, including the provision of medical and treatment services in university hospitals.

In addition to launching medical convoys, collecting donations, and providing medicines for the people of Gaza, universities also launched blood donation campaigns, supported the families of the injured, and launched initiatives to support students in cooperation with civil society organizations. Universities also provided doctors at the border crossing to contribute to the treatment of the injured.
