Egypt said the Palestinian cause will remain the first issue for Arab states, as regional stability cannot be achieved without reaching a just and comprehensive settlement to the Palestine-Israel conflict based on the two-state solution and the relevant resolutions of international legitimacy.
This came in a statement released by the Egyptian Foreign Ministry on Tuesday to mark the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, which is observed on November 29 each year.
The ministry noted Egypt always defends the Palestinian cause, for being the central issue for the Arab world.
The ministry affirmed that Egypt’s firm position on the Palestinian issue remains unchanged.
It stressed Egypt’s call for putting an end to acts of violence in the occupied Palestinian territories and stopping unilateral measures that hinder settling the issues of the final solution, notably illegal settlement activities, policies of expulsion and eviction of Palestinians in Jerusalem, changing the demographic character of the sacred city, and the temporal and spatial division of Al Aqsa Mosque.
The ministry underlined that Egypt, out of its historical responsibility and commitment to backing the Palestinian people’s inalienable rights, will keep exerting tireless and sincere efforts to resume the Middle East peace process and to encourage Palestinians and Israelis to return to the negotiating table, with the support of the world community and international partners.
