Egypt, Libya panel to discuss dues of departed labor

Egypt and Libya's social solidarity ministers have agreed to form a committee that will address the money owed to Egyptian workers who left Libya following the political turmoil that has shaken the country since 2011.

Gamal Sorour, from Egypt’s Social Solidarity Ministry, met with Libyan counterpart Massoud Ibrahim in Adis Ababa on Friday, on the sidelines of a regional conference by the International Labor Organization.

Sorour said he agreed to form a joint committee with Massoud where pending bilateral issues would be addressed, especially concerning the dues of more than 294,000 workers who fled Libya since internal conflict brought about the ouster of former leader Muammar Qadhafi’s rule in 2011.
