The ministries of tourism, telecommunications and antiquities have launched the first version of an Egypt tourism portal in 14 languages, to promote tourism in Egypt.
The Egypt.travel Beta portal offers information on various touristic and historic destinations, making use of links to other websites, while providing details of hotels across the country. In the first phase, over 200 destinations will be highlighted on the site.
The website will be manned by a permanent staff with responsibility for ensuring that all events of interest to tourists are publicized.
Tourism Minister Yehia Rashed said that the website launch is the first phase of the ministry’s plan to develop tourism through providing tourists with information online.
The site will also allow tourists to make online bookings for hotels and air tickets, connecting them to airlines.
Meanwhile, Antiquities Minister Khaled al-Anany said the website will be provided with all necessary information about archaeological sites.
