Egypt, Kenya Seek To Boost Trade Exchange, Investments

Egyptian Ambassador in Nairobi Wael Nasr al-Din Attia met on Wednesday 25/12/2024 with Kenyan Cabinet Secretary for Investments Moses Kuria to discuss boosting bilateral trade and business.

The meeting also took up moves to resume activities of the joint trade technical committee.

Kuria pointed to growth in trade between the two countries, particularly Egypt’s rising imports of Kenyan tea and its exports of textiles and construction materials.

He underscored benefits of COMESA trade exemptions for business people here and in Kenya.

The Kenyan official said his country is looking forward to luring more Egyptian investors, who could very well benefit from incentives for industrial projects.

For his part, Attia emphasized Egypt’s commitment to enhancing trade ties with Kenya as a key regional hub.

He added that the private sector is interested in exploring investment opportunities in construction, transport, and energy.

Kenya is among the most promising markets in East Africa, the diplomat noted.
