Egypt, Jordan negotiate anti-double taxation agreement

Hussein Ahmed al-Far, chairman of the Central Department for International Agreements at the Egyptian Tax Authority, said Egypt and Jordan are negotiating to conclude an agreement which will avoid double taxation and prevent tax evasion.

This comes at a time when Abdel Moneim Mattar, Undersecretary of the Finance Ministry and head of the Tax Authority, said the authority concluded 58 agreements with a number of countries recently.

Mattar added in a press statement yesterday, "Last week witnessed the signing of a (preliminary) double taxation agreement between Egypt and Luxemburg." Mattar pointed out that the final agreement would be signed between the foreign ministers of the two countries.
